World's largest map, painted at Rowland Elementary school, south Euclid, Ohio in 1992 measured 14,865 square feet.
I met up with a lot of interesting new bugs on the blacktop while crawling around on my
hands and knees for four months. The map took about 150 hours to complete. I took
a cartography class in college once, but other than that, I used no special tools or talents
... just a paint brush, a tape measure and a National Geographic map. The kids had tons
of fun with it, especially when the local tv stations came out to cover the grand opening
in September ... and the Guinness Book of Records mailed us their official certificate later
in the year.
